DDR4-3200 (PC4-25600) is the highest DDR4 speed grade used in servers, introduced with EPYC Rome and adopted by third-generation Xeon Scalable. Modules at this grade also run at 2933 or 2666 on earlier platforms, which makes them the most flexible DDR4 parts to hold.

DDR3, DDR4 and DDR5 modules are keyed differently and do not interchange, so the generation your platform accepts comes first. Registered (RDIMM), load-reduced (LRDIMM) and unbuffered (UDIMM) modules cannot be mixed in one system: add the type already installed, or replace the full bank. Match rank and speed to the existing modules, and read an installed part number from iDRAC or iLO when in doubt.
