How to choose server hard drives

Match the interface and link rate the controller or backplane presents, the bay width (2.5-inch or 3.5-inch), and the rotational class already in the array: 10K and 15K drives for latency-sensitive duty, 7200 RPM nearline drives for capacity. Replacing an array member also means matching capacity and sector format, or the controller can reject the drive.
